If you cancel less than 2 business days in advance of your reservation start date, you will receive no refund on the 25% deposit. No same day cancellations. If you cancel the day of your rental you will be charged for the full amount of your rental. Please keep in mind we are closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Where should we ride?

Most people who rent from us choose to ride the Little Traverse Wheelway. Popular destinations include Charlevoix, Bay Harbor, East Park, Waterfront Park, Petoskey State Park, and Harbor Springs. Note: Due to erosion damage the trail is currently closed between Magnus Park and East Park. There is an alternative route that requires a short ride on the shoulder of US 31.

Mountain bikes are not to be ridden in the Boyne Highlands Bike Park.

Our mountain bikes are not designed to be taken off large jumps, drops, or other man-made features present at the Boyne Highlands Bike Park. You will be charged for any damage or excessive wear to the bikes. We also ask that you please refrain from taking the bikes on the chair lift as well. If it is determined that the bike(s) were taken to the bike park or loaded on the chair lift you will be charged $60 for excessive wear and tear.

How close are you to the Little Traverse Wheelway?

Our shop is less than 2 minutes away from the Wheelway. The distance is roughly 0.2 miles downhill and takes you to the wheelway in Bayfront Park. The route is very safe and travels along two quiet back streets.

Can I reserve a bike for less than a full day?

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer reservations for shorter times. By doing this we can guarantee your bikes are available when you reserve them.

How do I transport my rental(s)?

Transportation is the responsibility of the renter unless there were prior arrangements for delivery (see above). We have limited hitch racks and tailgate pads available for rent (vehicle will need an existing hitch receiver or tailgate). We do not allow hanging-style bike racks or trunk racks. Strapping to your roof or shoving in your car is NOT ALLOWED. Please call if you have any questions about your bike rack compatibility.

What is the policy regarding late returns, lost bikes or racks and damaged bikes or racks?

If the bike or rack is returned late, you will be charged a late fee of $100 per bike per calendar day.  Locking a rental bike to our rack is NOT returning it and the late charge will apply.

If the bike or rack is not returned by the renter, regardless of what happened to the bike or rack, the renter is responsible for paying the manufacturer's original suggest retail value of the bike or rack, plus Michigan Sales Tax.

If the bike or rack is damaged upon return, the renter will be responsible to paying for all repair costs.

Do you offer insurance?

Yes! Insurance is optional and provided by Latitude 45 and may be purchased at the time of renting or in store before taking out your bike! Insurance covers up to $3000 of damage and does not cover theft or loss of bike or inappropriate transportation.

Can I return my bike after your store is closed?

No. Our rental shop is open Mon - Fri, 9:30am to 5pm; Sat, 9:00am - 4:30pm; bikes must be returned before the rental shop closes. We are closed Sundays and Mondays, rentals cannot be picked up or dropped off then, but may be rented INCLUDING Sunday and Monday. (ex, Sat - Tue).   If the bike is returned late, you will be charged a late fee of $100 per bike per calendar day.  Locking a rental bike to our rack is NOT returning it and the late charge will apply.

What kinds of bikes do you rent?

We offer the largest variety of rental bikes in the area. We have hybrid, fitness, mountain, road, electric, youth, and kids bikes in every size. By far our most popular rentals are our hybrid bikes which are ideal for cruising the wheelway. We also offer premium carbon road bikes and mountain bikes for the avid cyclist on vacation without their trusty steed.

What if I get a flat tire or have a mechanical problem?

We have had very minimal issues with flats or mechanical problems. This is the result of utilizing high-quality, durable bikes for our rental fleet and performing regular checks on our rental bikes throughout the peak season. Additionally, we visually inspect your bikes before sending you on your way. We have flat repair kits and multi-tools available for riders who have mechanical aptitude and want to be extra prepared. Should something happen you can always call (231) 348-5342 and we will do our best to assist you.

What if I'm riding with people who are bringing their own bikes?

If some riders in your group are bringing their own bikes please meet them at Bayfront Park West (one block from the store). Our staging area has limited space and we'd like to avoid congestion.

See you soon,

The friendly staff at Latitude 45
